A Dozen Do's for Leading Change

In an article on the human side of change, Kerry Bunker and Michael Wakefield from the Center for Creative Leadership suggest that there are twelve critical (and sometimes contradictory) things that leaders must do, including:
1. Catalyze change.
2. Cope with transition.
3. Show a sense of urgency.
4. Demonstrate realistic patience.
5. Be tough.
6. Be empathetic.
7. Show optimism.
8. Be realistic and open.
9. Be self-reliant.
10. Trust others.
11. Capitalize on strengths.
12. Go against the grain.
